WHAT SUSTAINABILITY MEANS TO ALPENSPED
At Alpensped, corporate responsibility encompasses various areas. These include the economic development of our company, environmental protection within our operations, the monitoring and assessment of greenhouse gas emissions, and our commitment to our employees and society.
We summarise these areas in our N3 philosophy: economy, ecology and social responsibility.
We document our measures and key performance indicators in our Sustainability Report, amongst other places. In doing so, we adhere to recognised standards and continuously refine our processes.
N3 philosophy: economy
Since our company was founded in 1993, Alpensped has developed from a small transport company into a medium-sized, specialised logistics service provider with process-oriented transport management. Today, our business partners include over 150 customers and more than 50 contracted carriers.
Our business activities are geared towards long-term business relationships and stable processes. We expand into new countries, markets and customer relationships gradually and on the basis of a balanced mix of sectors. In doing so, we focus on customer focus, digital processes and bespoke IT. Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015. Regular audits and the continuous improvement of our processes help to ensure the quality of our services.
Long-term relationships with our carriers are also a key part of our collaboration. Clear processes, defined quality requirements and dedicated contact persons form the basis for our joint work.
N3 philosophy: ecology
Alpensped operates an environmental management system certified to ISO 14001:2015. In addition, we record the greenhouse gas emissions from our business activities and transport services in accordance with recognised standards. The Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) is prepared in accordance with ISO 14064-1 and is externally audited and verified. We also use the calculation method set out in ISO 14083 for the Transport Carbon Footprint (TCF). The exact designation and the respective status of the audit or verification correspond to the currently valid certifications.
Since 2012, we have been showing the specific TCF for every consignment carried out on our invoices. This provides our customers with information about the transport-related greenhouse gas emissions of their consignment.
Based on this data, we continue to develop measures to prevent or reduce emissions within the company and in our transport processes. These include, for example, optimising transport processes and load factors, avoiding unnecessary empty runs, and measures to reduce energy and resource consumption.
In addition, Alpensped supports selected climate action projects. The funding of such projects is considered separately from the greenhouse gas emissions actually generated. It does not replace the avoidance or reduction of emissions and is not presented as offsetting transport emissions.
In 2026, Alpensped was awarded the German Sustainability Award in the transport and logistics sector category. The award recognises our long-standing commitment to combining environmental, social and economic responsibility.
Alpensped has been a member of B.A.U.M. e. V. since 2017. B.A.U.M. Consult GmbH supports Alpensped in areas such as operational environmental protection and the further development of relevant management processes.
As a ‘cleanliness sponsor’ for the city of Mannheim, Alpensped works alongside its staff on clean-up campaigns to promote a clean local environment.
N3 philosophy: social responsibility
Alpensped takes its social responsibility towards its employees and society seriously. This includes regional and local engagement, support for selected charitable projects, and an employee-focused HR policy.
We are committed to equality, equal opportunities and a discrimination-free working environment. The diversity of our staff is an important part of our corporate culture. That is why we promote development opportunities and place great value on fostering long-term loyalty amongst our staff.
Furthermore, Alpensped regularly supports social and charitable projects. A fixed percentage of our profits is donated to selected local and international organisations. We also support our employees in their own social engagement.
The organisations and projects we support include, amongst others, the ‘Chancen für Kinder’ Foundation, Médecins Sans Frontières, the Mannheim Food Bank, the Mannheim Railway Station Mission and ‘Anpfiff ins Leben e.V.’.
