Interview with Dieter Filler
Dieter Filler, CEO, EXOY Green Systems AG, on his experience with the Mannheim-based transport service provider Alpensped.
The Exoy Group is the exclusive sales partner for the UHTH systems of CleanCarbonConversion AG, Switzerland. Their systems generate energy from waste materials and hazardous waste.
What is the acronym UHTH? UHTH means ultra high temperature hydrolysis. This process converts all organic materials into a clean synthetic gas that is produced at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen – without smoke, ash or toxic residues
How big is such a system? We offer it in two sizes for a throughput of 5 or 25 tons per day. The large UHTH-T25 has a space requirement of approx. 25 metres in length, 4.5 metres in width and 10 metres in height and has a total weight of approx. 78 tons of stainless steel without peripheral parts.
Which verhicles are required to transport these systems? A wide variety of special vehicles for special dimensions and heavy weights are in use. Our exclusive transport partner Alpensped provides the heavy lift cargo vehicles required in each case, such as open trailers, special low loaders, telescopic trailers, widenable mega trailers and other special vehicles. If required, the necessary mobile cranes are also provided for every weight.
What criteria did you use to select the transport partner? These were different aspects: the technical competence for heavy loads and special transports is of course the alpha and omega. In addition, we need a partner who knows about the countries of Eastern Europe and who offers the entire project management including customs clearance, permits and escort. And it is particularly important to us that our customers have a native speaker available on site.
With such a system, whose numerous components are manufactured in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia and Switzerland and are brought to their destination with around 20 individual transports, every step has to be interlinked. The organization to deliver the components “just in time” is immense and I am impressed with how professionally the medium-sized family business handles everything.
The fact that Alpensped is just as committed to environmental protection as we are, matches of course and makes us perfect partners.
A project example
Nine months, 62 vehicles, 28 special transports to the finished system – that’s the short form of one of our largest projects.
On behalf of Ruland Engineering & Consulting GmbH, a specialist in process plant construction, Alpensped has taken on the entire logistical service up to the on-time commissioning of a new production site – the planning, organization and implementation of the special transports of a plant for the production of concentrated juice from Germany to Serbia.
In total, different modules were transported in three steps, depending on the deadline. Thereby, the beverage tanks, each 4.7 metres wide and 4 metres high, were the largest special parts to be transported.
As a specialist for Southern and South-East Europe Alpensped has native speakers – both in-house and at local partners – in this case Serbian-speaking employees. This is an invaluable advantage when it comes to applying for national and international special permits for special transports or heavy loads, planning the route and checking the trafficability taking into account current construction sites. We took care of everything and also escorted the transports.
In addition to the complex handling of heavy loads and special transports, Alpensped has expertise and many years of experience in customs clearance. Here, too, language skills play a very important role. Alpensped brought the system to its destination safely and on time in accordance with the import regulations.
Given such large projects, the optimal utilization of the vehicles seems to be of secondary importance. But for Alpensped, ecological and economic aspects are just as important in the planning and implementation of all projects as quality.
