Infrastructure and road traffic
The 137,000 km long road network is very well developed.
On all motorways and expressways in the country as well as on some bridges and tunnels such as the Brenner, there is an obligation for a vignette for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and tolls for vehicles over 3.5 tons.
There are many “hidden champions” based in Austria, world market leaders with a low awareness level who specialize in a certain area. This creates great potential for logistics companies to ship these goods internationally.
Economy and foreign trade
Austria is one of the economically strongest countries in Europe. The GDP generated in 2019 amounted to € 399 b., including € 159.6 b. in exports and € 165.0 b. in imports. In addition to a stable economy, Austria also scores with a high living standard. Austria’s most important trading partners are Germany and Italy. The largest export volume results from the mechanical engineering industry and vehicle construction. In addition, mainly chemical products, iron and steel, food and beverages are exported. Major imports include machinery and vehicles, processed goods, chemicals and food.
Country and culture
Austria is located in Central Europe and is also called the Alpine Republic because the Alps take up 62% of its area. The country consists of both hilly and flat landscapes and rivers such as the Danube.
Austrian culture offers a wide range of cultural events and private associations. There are also a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country.
