Benvenuti!

It all started with Italy … Hence our company name, because Alpensped has been crossing the Alps since 1993. Italy is our very first and therefore oldest target country. Since the company was founded, we have successfully carried out transports to and from Italy on a daily basis.
We transport plastic products, recycled goods, steel, paper, packaging, food, consumer goods in the non-food sector as well as chemical products, among other things. Our many years of experience, our own roots, native-speaking employees as well as short transit times and stable partnerships make Alpensped the Italy specialist for transport and logistics. We can provide you with a suitable transport solution for most types of vehicle, every weight and almost every shipment size.

Infrastructure and road traffic
The road network has a length of 487,700 km. The motorways and some tunnels are toll roads. Italy has a relatively good road safety and a comparatively high motorization rate.
A specialty in logistics for Italy is the freight traffic crossing the Alps. The Gotthard, Simplon, Mont Cenis and Brenner tunnels can be used to cross the Alps between northern and southern Europe. Thereby, around half of the transit traffic through the Alps takes place on the Brenner motorway.
Trade within Europe is growing continuously and requires flawless dispatch of goods across the Alps. Three trans-European transport networks as well as major north-south and east-west routes run through the Alps. Furthermore, Italy exports over 41% of its export goods to neighbouring European countries via the northern Alps.
Economy and foreign trade
Italy is one of the most highly developed industrial countries in the world, has a high living standard and a strong economy. Italy’s GDP added up to € 1,788 b. in 2019. Its strong export orientation is evident in exports of € 475.9 b., compared to € 422.9 b. in imports. Italy’s most significant trading partners are Germany and France.
The main exports are machinery, chemical products, automotive parts, clothing and food. The main imports are chemical products, automotive parts, machines, food and textiles.
Country and culture
Italy is located in southern Europe on the Mediterranean Sea and on the Apennine Peninsula. The largest Italian islands are Sicily and Sardinia. The ministate Vatican and the Republic of San Marino are in the interior of the country. The Alps run through the north of the country, with the Po plain in the south. Most of the active volcanoes on mainland Europe can also be found in Italy.
Italy has not only contributed a lot to world culture through the Romans. Most of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites stand in Italy, as well as some of the most beautiful sights in Europe. Hence, it is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. Besides, it has one of the highest life expectancies.
