    Infrastructure and road traffic

The Czech Republic has a good infrastructure, the best in Central and Eastern Europe. The Czech road network is modern and covers 55,700 km, around 2,000 km of which are motorways. The motorway network is well developed and is constantly being expanded. The network of rest stops is on a Western European level.

Vehicles over 3.5 tons are subject to a toll on motorways and certain expressways which depends on the distance traveled and is determined with the help of a satellite-supported on-board unit.

Due to its central location in Europe, the Czech Republic is an ideal logistics location. The logistics industry is one of the most important sectors in the Czech Republic. 5.7 million square metres of modern storage space is available which is also used.

Due to the stable economy, the profitable automotive industry and the flourishing online trade which is attracting more and more foreign investors, the volume of road freight transport is constantly increasing. It is therefore to be expected that there will be continued strong demand for logistics services in the Czech Republic.

    Economy and foreign trade

The Czech Republic is a highly developed industrial state with a strong economy. The GDP achieved in 2019 was € 224 b., including € 177.6 b. in exports and € 159.8 b. in imports. What is special is that exports make up around 85% of total GDP. This is due to the car manufacturer Skoda.

The main groups of goods exported and imported include motor vehicles and parts, machines and mechanical goods as well as electronic products. Germany is by far the Czech Republic’s most relevant trading partner; almost a third of Czech foreign trade is with Germany.

However, the economic situation varies depending on the region of the country. The economy around Prague is above average, while the east of the country has weak figures.

    Country and culture

The Czech Republic is a central European landlocked country. A third of the country consists of forests, the interior is flat and at the national borders it is mountainous. The Vltava flows through the Czech Republic as the longest river. There are also four national parks and some nature reserves.

Due to the long period of foreign control for historical reasons, Czech customs and folklore have become more important than ever. The own cultural identity is celebrated with the traditions. Many folklore festivals are also held in the country. Mainly Czechs live in the population, but also Ukrainians and Slovaks. Numerous Czech sites have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
